About this Event
This workshop enables 20 participants to discover the similarities and differences between dance and drawing in the extraordinary architectural environment of Queensrollahouse.
Led by Lucy Algar and long-time collaborators Kirill Burlov and Chihiro Kawasaki, the group will use a wide variety of drawing materials to encourage confident mark making and to allow the materials to suggest unexpected connections to movement. For instance, the flow of ink on smooth paper connects to fluid movement in quite a different way to charcoal on rough paper.
These workshops encourage playful interrogations of the performing body through drawing and suit those interested in both visual and movement arts.
The workshop often culminates by creating costumes which may be used to create an installation in Lucy's studio following the workshop, as well as a post-workshop discussion of the work created.
