A series of 3 practical 1-day sessions on SaturdaysSat 9 Nov 2024, Sat 25 Jan 2025 & Sat 15 Mar 2025
10.30am–4pm
NB This course is FULLY BOOKED. But we've added another on Sundays starting 10 Nov.
With Tanya Bentham, embroiderer and author
Women made change in the medieval world, from the religious visions of Hildegard of Bingen, the pioneering feminism of Christine De Pisan, or the piracy of Jean de Clisson. There have always been women who seized their own power and made change in their world.
Using a choice of medieval embroidery techniques ranging from laid and couched work (Bayeux stitch) to opus anglicanum, and depending on your skill level, produce a piece of embroidery based on one of these pioneering women.
These three one-day workshops over the course of four months give you time to work on the elements of your embroidery in between sessions. But you aren't expected to complete your embroidery project by the end of the course.
All materials will be provided.
BOOKING
The events take place in-person only in the Learning Studio
Tickets are £260 for the course of three-day workshops
