[Workshop with Movement] We Have All Been Transformed by Dragons

Join us for the transformative two-hour workshop, "We Have All Been Transformed by Dragons," exploring the Dragon as an Ecological Symbol. This participatory session includes writing, discussion, and qigong, fostering a connection with the concept of flow. We will delve into dragons' roles in Chinese-style fortune telling, engage in movements to awaken the dragons within us, and write about the dragons we inhabit. Aimed at deepening our connection to cultural flow within the community, this workshop is suitable for all ages but is specifically designed for adult participants.

Led by visiting Chinese Astrologer Alice Sparkly Kat from Philadelphia, this workshop is part of a citywide event series, a collaboration between 6018|North, the Chinese American Museum of Chicago, and the Heritage Museum of Asian Art, occurring over the weekend of January 10, 11, and 12, 2025.

• Jan. 11 (Sat.), 2-4 p.m. at (3500 S Morgan St, 3F)"We Have All Been Transformed by Dragons"Explore your internal dragon through movement, qigong, and writing exercises.
• Jan. 12 (Sun.), 2-4 p.m. at (238 W 23rd St)"2025 Year of Walking with Snakes"Investigate the year of snakes as an internal force, walking with three medicinal substances that have traversed between the Americas and China: tea, tobacco, and mugwort.

Artist bio:

Alice Sparkly Kat is a Philadelphia-based astrologer renowned for integrating astrology with critical theory and cultural studies. Their approach explores identity, sexuality, and social structures through traditional and contemporary astrological practices. Alice is an author, public speaker, and workshop leader, known for making astrology accessible and relevant across diverse audiences. They often include interactive elements like writing, discussion, and movement in their workshops to foster community engagement. With a background in both astrology and the humanities, Alice Sparkly Kat is considered a progressive and philosophical voice in modern astrology.

The Heritage Museum of Asian Art's Entrance is on West 35th Street. Take the elevator to the third floor and turn right to the Museum Reception Desk. Accessible and standard toilets are located on the same floor. Free parking space is available next to the museum via West 35th Street.
