Workshop with Embrace: Performance | Dance Victoria Artist in Residence

Dance Victoria welcomes Residency Artist Embrace: Performance to DV Studios. During their time with us, the group developed choreography for their latest short film, In Wonder. As part of the residency, Embrace: Performance will offer a free workshop sharing tools for creating with a wide variety of bodies and brains. Please arrive at 10:15 am for sign-in.

Workshop Description: Join Embrace: Performance founder Tiffany Tjosvold and explore how to build greater accessibility into studio practice, in both recreational and professional dance settings. In this workshop, you will delve into a number of topics, including sensory considerations, multi-modal learning, and movement translation. This workshop is designed for dance educators, choreographers, and other artistic professionals, but anyone is welcome to join. This will be an active workshop, so come prepared for a mix of discussion and dancing.

Embrace: Performance is Embrace Arts Foundation’s professional performance stream, founded by Tiffany Tjosvold (she/her) in 2018. Embrace: Performance is focused on developing original works collaboratively with teams of disabled and non-disabled artists. The company strives to create innovative, multidisciplinary pieces that are rooted in the stories the artists have to tell.

Class level: anyone is welcome to join. The class is designed with dance educators, choreographers, and other artistic professionals in mind.

There will be photos taken during the workshop. A photo release form will be available to sign. It is NOT mandatory to consent to photos in order to participate. If you are under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must sign the photo release form.
