Workshop: Vanillekipferl Cookie Making with the European Cottage Bakery

Learn to create traditional Vanillekipferl from Austria with Danielle of the European Cottage Bakery!
Vanillekipferl is a beloved traditional Christmas cookie made with nuts that has gained popularity in other countries. In this class, you'll learn how to shape and roll the cookie dough into ropes and cut them individually to roll them out by hand for shaping, how to bake them and how to cover them in sugar without breaking them and without sprinkling powder sugar on top. You will get your cookies all prepared here in the workshop, and then take them home to bake. (You will need powdered sugar at home to finish.)
You will also receive recipes to make marzipan from scratch and ideas for how to use it, plus a recipe to make Rumtopf (which takes a minimum of 3 months to create before using it) or dumplings.
Each participant needs to bring at least 1 baking tray from home to transport their cookies. Aprons are welcome, and hair should be up. Fancy jewels should be pocketed to avoid small particles from nuts and sugars from embedding in them.
Please note: NUTS are used, so those with a nut allergy should avoid this class.
About the teacher:
Danielle was born Austrian-American and taught from an early age how to bake and cook traditional foods and blend two cultures together through food. She has a deep appreciation for tradition and aims to keep most, if not all of her products close to the traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations. As a one year celebration of the European Cottage Bakery business, she is teaching this course to make your own vanillekipferl. Last December was her first time selling her items, and vanillekipferl was one of her best selling cookies and a favorite of many.
