Wish you could add an additional variety of fruit to an existing tree?
Want to add a pollination partner in your yard, but don’t have space for another tree?
Need to repair damage to your tree or want to swap out the fruition branches for a tastier variety while taking advantage of the existing root system?
Then top-working may be for you!
Top-working is a term used to describe the process of grafting (adding) new / varieties to an existing tree.
An oversimplified explanation is that short cuttings (called scions) of the new desired variety are inserted (grafted) into specially cut surfaces on nurse limbs of the existing tree where they grow together.
In this workshop, you will learn about top-working tools, grafting compatibility (what variety can you graft to another variety), different methods for top-working, and see a demonstration of topworking methods. Participants will also have a chance to get some hands-on practice using proper grafting cuts.
$25 per participant. All proceeds help support this unique community non-profit.
Space for this workshop is limited, so be sure to reserve your space asap on the Home Orchard Education Center Website:

We look forward to learning with you!
