Join us in person at the Denver Art Museum for this engaging workshop that explores how adults can help children engage with arts as tools for inquiry, connection, collaboration, and expression!

Encountering the many challenges we face with wholehearted openness and joy is a lifelong journey that can center our work with children, families, and colleagues - people who are bumping into each other as they seek the same. In this half-day immersive workshop, we’ll
-Consider the implications of recognizing young children as meaning-makers
-Reflect on windows into practice in exemplary early childhood settings
-Engage with the arts as tools for inquiry, connection, collaboration, and expression
-Identify and adapt new approaches to meaningful teacher-research
-Leave with new questions to pursue that support your values and intentions
The workshop facilitators are Susan Harris MacKay and Matt Karlsen, hosts of the global professional development community Studio for Playful Inquiry. Matt and Susan draw from decades of working with children and educators, including at Opal School in Portland, Oregon. Susan is the author of the book Story Workshop: New Possibilities for Young Writers. They relish their time partnering with teachers and administrators seeking new paths to community, courage, and beauty in their lives and work.
Registration includes art materials for you to take with you! There will be a blend of materials that you can enjoy at home and with children in your early learning setting.
