Explore carving and printing your own rubber stamps with artist Iona Hughes, creating playful designs similar to William Nicholson’s prints.
Discover the world of rubber stamp making in this hands-on workshop. Iona will provide examples, demonstrate carving and printing methods, and support you in developing your own creative ideas.
Drawing on William Nicholson’s illustrated alphabet and woodcut prints, you’ll explore bold, expressive designs and experiment with repeating patterns, textures, and printmaking techniques. You’ll carve a set of your own rubber stamps and use them to create a finished artwork composition, with the opportunity to experiment with hand colouring your printed designs.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a series of artworks and lots of inspiration ready to continue experimenting and creating at home. The workshop emphasises accessible, immediate, and playful printmaking suitable for all levels of experience.
