Join award-winning oil painter and illustrator Christopher R Murray for an in-depth exploration of portrait painting methods and techniques. In this workshop, we will examine the portraits of the Old Masters, improve our drawing skills, discuss how to create life-like flesh tones, how to stay loose, Alla Prima vs. layering, best pigment choices, and best painting practices. We will be painting quick portrait studies, a classical portrait bust, and a long pose portrait from a life model who will join us in the studio. Christopher will be demonstrating in oils, but any painting medium will be acceptable.
All skill levels are welcome, some painting experience is recommended.
