Author and San Francisco educator Frederick Smith (he/him) discusses his latest novel, One and Done, a Black, Queer, Higher Ed, Bay Area romance novel. Additionally, Fred will lead a creative writing workshop with prompts that celebrate the multiple identities and memories we hold. Everyone will walk away with the beginnings of a fiction, memoir or poetry piece they can expand on after the workshop. Writing notebooks provided, and participants will receive a free copy of One and Done (supplies limited). Registration required: on.sfpl.org/FredSmith.
Born and raised in Detroit, Fredrick Smith is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism and Loyola University Chicago. Smith worked as a TV anchor and reporter before making a career move to Higher Education and Student Affairs… and now fiction writing. He is a finalist for the PEN Center Emerging Voices Fellowship, and a participant in the VONA (Voices of our Nations) novel seminar.
