About this Event

Communities can help to shape the way that energy is produced and used in their area. A pilot project is being run in Wiltshire with six communities, to start conversations about energy use and renewable energy generation. This includes keeping homes warm and healthy and reducing energy bills.

Community-led energy projects keep benefits local – from cheaper energy bills to investment in local facilities. When communities lead energy projects, they create solutions that work for everyone – tackling both climate change and rising energy costs.

If you can't make the event but would like to receive a survey and information about the workshop results and follow up engagement, please share your information in this short form and we'll be in touch after the workshop.

What is the workshop?

You’re invited to join this interactive workshop at Holt Village Hall to start a conversation on energy in the area and share your thoughts as local people. Please come along to explore how renewable energy could benefit, or be owned by, local communities.

This workshop is hosted in partnership with Climate Friendly Bradford on Avon, Bath and West Community Energy, Wiltshire Council, and the Centre for Sustainable Energy. This project is funded by the Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme.

What will happen in the workshop?

We will explore how your community can play a role in the UK’s national efforts to take climate action – thinking about what renewable energy could happen in your area and how it could benefit your community.

The workshop is aimed at anyone who lives or works in the Holt, Winsley, Bradford on Avon and part of S. Wraxall area(s). Everyone is welcome. You don’t need any prior knowledge as there will be information provided during the workshop.

You will be asked to work in groups to discuss how you feel about your local landscape, what types of community energy infrastructure (such as solar panels and wind turbines) you would consider adding, and how involved your community could be in this process.

As the workshop takes place during the evening, food and refreshments will be provided.

What happens after the workshop?

After the workshop, a written summary of what was discussed will be publicly available. A survey will then be shared, for people who weren't at the workshop to add their thoughts and ideas to what was discussed. We will also be having further conversations to understand what the wider views of the community are (details of this to be confirmed).

We hope to see you there - book your free spot by getting a ticket via this event page.

If you can't make the event but would like to receive a survey and information about the workshop results and follow up engagement, please share your information in this short form and we'll be in touch after the workshop.
