About this Event
Artist Julie Beehler will teach how to extract pigment from dye baths and convert the pigment into a solution for painting and printing. Learn the process of making inks along with techniques for storing and using the pigment. Play with mixing pigments into paints by exploring different ways to mix, bind and apply the pigment with natural materials. We will test out our inks and paints on paper and fiber and experiment with modifiers to shift the colors.
A minimum of 9 students is required to run the workshop; refunds if cancelled.

This workshop is open to all experience levels. Ages 18+.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Julie Beeler is a designer, artist, and educator who grew up with a deep love for and curiosity about the natural world. She experiments with the unpredictability of plants and fungi by growing and harvesting, observing and foraging, and tethering herself to nature’s seasons. Her recent book, published by award-winning Chronicle Books, The Mushroom Color Atlas, is a resource and reference mushrooms and the beautiful and subtle colors derived from dyeing with mushrooms. When she is not foraging for plants, you can find Julie tending the soil, working in her art studio, or leading workshops at Bloom & Dye, an 18-acre WSDA certified organic flower farm along the White Salmon River in Trout Lake.
