About this Event

Join us for an exciting new way to paint in watercolor!

NEW! NHG proudly welcomes artist and teacher Maya Modi with a fun, easy twist on the usually complicated world of watercolor art.

In this workshop, you will learn simple watercolor techniques that amount to a full 8x10 Watercolor Painting that you'll want to frame! All the materials are included. Maya provides only the highest quality of materials to set you up for success and boost your creative confidence. This includes a reference image, practice guide, your outlined design, professional watercolor paint, and an Aquash Brushpen. Each workshop is simple enough to follow with instructions, yet flexible enough to put your own creative spin on it!

  • The first workshop in the series is Autumn Leaves, a stunning display of fall elements and colors. This piece is a seasonal reminder to let go of things we cannot control through Wet-on-Wet watercolor techniques.
  • The second workshop in the series coincides with North Haven Gardens' Texas Native Plant Week. You will be painting a colorful design of Texas Native Wildflowers in the shape of our state. This watercolor painting uses a combination of wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, and layering.
  • The last watercolor workshop of the year celebrates the holidays! You will get to paint a set of Three Watercolor Cards to mail to loved ones or include in their gifts! While this workshop is lighter on the instructions, Maya will walk you through her examples, and you'll be able to fill in the designs in a way that feels right to you.

$50 per person. All supplies are included. In order to have the best in artistic instruction, our workshop is limited to 40 attendees. Purchase snacks and a beverage from our next-door Cafe, sit down, and create with us in new, this fun workshop!

Join us for our next unique workshops with Maya!

Sunday, October 18th - Texas Wildflowers

Saturday, November 14th - Three Holiday Cards

Maya Modi is a Dallas-based artist specializing in watercolor. After teaching high school art for years, she has perfected a method of teaching watercolor that gets busy minds into a flow state. Flow State is when your brain is completely entranced by an activity, so it feels like time has slowed down. Her product line of watercolor kits is designed to be not so easy that you have to focus, but not so hard that you get frustrated. The result is reduced cortisol levels and mental clarity.
