WORKSHOP INDUCTION @ Leith ~ Sunday 13.11.22 (Beginner Friendly)

Welcome back to our community workshops!

This is a 1.5 hour long level 1 - 4 community workshop health & safety induction. This general induction is compulsory for anyone attending the open workshop session, even for those members who have previously completed an induction. Everyone who has attended the induction will receive a badge and won’t be required to attend a further induction to attend open sessions.

*If you have had a level 3 induction previously, you can come from 6 - 6:30 to get an induction on the table saw.*

**** Please note that open sessions are volunteer run and access to machinery will depend on the level of induction of the workshop monitors & leads . Each session will have a level system ranging from 1 - 5 that will indicate which machines & tools you will be able to use during the session.

1 = basic health & safety, hand tools

2 = handheld power tools

3 = mitre saw, band/scroll saw, drill press, standing sanders

4 = table saw

5 = lathe

* Members can request inductions on machines and tools that are not included in the above levels during open sessions. This will be available based on the knowledge of the workshop volunteers on shift and the busyness of the session. *

Have an active membership at the Edinburgh Tool Library. Sign up or renew your membership here.

Community workshop inductions can be booked a week in advance, and will depend on the availability of our workshop volunteers.

You can cancel your booking 48 hours in advance. This will give us the opportunity to offer the induction to another member on the waitlist. If you fail to attend the session, we have the right to deduct a no-show fee donation of £5 from your registered card on Myturn.

If a induction session is fully booked, sign up for the waitlist to receive notifications of last minute cancellations.

+ Covid Precautions

Reminder: Please do not attend if you have any symptoms or have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for Covid-19. You can find out more about COVID-19 website.

We're also asking members to have their own PPE during our workshop sessions. If you don't have safety glasses or ear defenders, you can purchase them from us during your session for £3!

Capacity Limits: The induction sessions will have a limit of 4 participants.

Booking required: Your space at the induction needs to be booked in advance. Walk-ins will be denied access.

Masks optional: You are very welcome to wear a mask for any or all of the session, though this is not compulsory.

Air flow: Extraction fans are used at all times and windows/doors will be open for air circulation.

The session will take place in the ETL Custom Lane workshop, at 1 Customs Wharf, Edinburgh, EH6 6AL. The workshop is best accessed via the western entrance to Custom Lane, off Dock Place.
