How will you survive family gatherings with that one uncle at the dinner table, with his extreme opinions on Israel and Gaza, whether eating meat is still okay, or about Trumpโs win? In the workshop How to deal with Polarization, you will receive tools to deal with divergent opinions. What exactly is polarization, where does it come from and how can you counter it yourself? And maybe more importantly; How can you hold a productive conversation with somebody whose motivations you already think to be set in stone?
You probably find yourself dealing with clashing opinions and wearing different hats in your daily life. In this workshop, you'll explore your own "many voices" and those of others.
Weโll dive into setting personal boundaries and understanding how your own values shape polarisation. How do you deal with other peopleโs views? You can choose to close your eyes and ears to their side of the story, or you can choose to still see them as a human being. What matters to you? And how do you make it clear when a boundary has been crossed? How do you stay connected in these kinds of conversations?
โEver shake an opinion's hand or look a viewpoint straight in the eye? Don't mistake the other person for his opinion. โ

The Humanistisch Verbond (Humanist Alliance), endorses principles such as believing in the power of human beings to make good choices, to question the truth and to work for a better world. The Workshop on how to deal with polarization is one example of that.
