FREE hands-on workshop for adults and youth ages 10 and up, led by a visiting artist and designer from Poland.
About this Event

With the professional guidance of Dr. Agnieszka Ziemiszewska you will create a poster inspired by a word of your choice. Some examples are EMPATHY, SUPPORT, COMMUNITY but you are free to follow your own inspiration. There will be time to reflect and discuss. Participants take their finished work home. • Introduction (~10 min)
• Choosing a word and reflection (~30 min)
• Creative work (~1.5 hr)
• Break (~30 min)
• Gallery and wrap (~1 hr)
• Tidying up the space (~15 min)

A Word from the workshop leader:

They say a picture can say more than a thousand words. But maybe a single word can become the inspiration for creating an image, a story, or discovering something important about yourself?

Words help us describe reality and express emotions, but each of us understands them a little differently. Their meanings are shaped by personal experiences, memories, and each person's unique way of looking at the world. Kindness, empathy, sensitivity, freedom, peace… What might they look like? What colors and shapes would they have? Do we all understand them the same way? How can a word be expressed so that it's understood at any latitude?

The workshop will be a creative meeting at the intersection of language and art. It's a chance to look at familiar concepts from a completely new perspective and discover how fascinating and diverse their visual interpretations can be.
