Join Margate Pride at Turner Contemporary for a relaxed, drop-in workshop exploring how everyday memories can become a lasting historical record.Help archive the living history of Margate Pride by creating pages for a collaborative community zine. Using zine-making as a creative introduction to archiving, you’ll work with archival materials, collage, text, and photos printed directly from your phone. The finished zine will be archived as part of Margate Pride’s new Heritage Hotline project, preserving LGBTQ+ experiences and culture in Thanet from the 1960s onwards. A welcoming space to share stories, make something together, and learn how to get involved with the project.
Turner, Foyle Rooms, 11am - 4.30pm. No experience needed. Free, informal, and drop in.
As Margate Pride starts to build an archive of its history so far, as part of it's Heritage Hotline project, Kavel Rafferty curates a selection of photographs documenting Margate Pride's ten-year history. Including photos by Stephen Daly, Elissa Cray, Tara Li An and more.
Projects Kavel Rafferty. Open daily 25th February until 3rd March, 11-4pm. Late view Saturday 28th until 8pm
Thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund & to National Lottery Players, we can continue to work with our community to reflect, celebrate and archive the LGBTQ+ history of Margate and Thanet. Preserving our past and learning for our future.
