Join artist Mona Wu for a hands-on exploration of Chinese calligraphy and ink brush painting. The workshop will begin with a conversation about the history and philosophy behind Chinese characters, followed by a guided session on traditional brush techniques. Participants will then create their own scroll, combining mark-making and visual symbols in a personal, meditative artwork. Ages 18+. All materials provided.

The Chinese Calligraphy Workshop is presented in conjunction with "The Path of Totality," an ongoing episodic narrative series made up of figurative and calligraphic works that reflect artist Brandon Sadler's diverse passion for storytelling, ink painting, and East Asian art forms. By adapting shufa, the art of Chinese brush character writing, Sadler transforms the gallery into an immersive journey of mastering a medium through the Three Perfections: poetry, painting, and calligraphy.
