You have studied basic letterforms with Patti, let’s try our hand at writing smaller and a project involving design and layout! We will start with our warmup and some review and then get right into using pens I provide to write smaller letterforms using all the rules we’ve already learned. Strengthening letterforms will be stressed. We will also create some personalized notecards, embellishing with decorative papers. Please bring your pilot parallel pen(s), grid pad and ink, any practice you’ve done, and your enthusiasm for letters! Additional supplies will be available for your use. Patti is passionate about sharing her love of letters so be prepared to learn some new things and to enjoy the mediative practice of putting black ink marks on paper to create something beautiful! The smaller pilot parallel pen will be available for purchase, if you desire as well as additional grid pads.
Actively working as a lettering artist since 1982, Patti practices calligraphy as an art-form and uses hand-rendered letterforms in her graphic design work. She also paints, draws, is a bookmaker, and her love of charcoal opens up fresh avenues of expression for her.
Level: Must have taken at least italic, foundational or capitals class with Patti.
