A hand-on workshop designed to teach the fundamentals of composting.
About this Event

Join the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Wake County for a workshop covering backyard and worm composting! This is a hands-on experience that will give you the opportunity to practice building and harvesting a compost pile.

This is an outdoor workshop. Plan to wear clothes suitable for gardening, including close-toed shoes. Please bring water, as there is not potable drinking water on site.

You will Learn:

  • The fundamentals of backyard & worm composting
  • The necessary materials for composting
  • How to start a bin and obtain worms for it
  • Techniques for creating healthy compost
  • Monitoring you compost & bin
  • Harvesting your compost
  • Utilizing your compost
