In which ways can we intervene in an image, altering or reinforcing its concept? What are the metaphorical meanings of the acts of cutting, tearing, covering, overlaying, and concealing an image?
The technical possibilities of intervening in images are as many as the imagination dictates. We can remove or add something, paint over the image in whole or in part, cut, paste, tear, burn, erase, etc., thus modifying the original image. To make the interventions, you can use collage, painting, or drawing techniques. You can make two-dimensional or three-dimensional works.
Using examples of artworks by historical and contemporary artists, in this workshop we will explore the various ways that an image can be altered, thus enhancing the creative possibilities of collage.
The possibilities of intervention on an image are so many that three workshops dedicated to the theme will be offered. The three workshops are independent, that is, it is not mandatory to have participated in the first one to register for the following ones.
1st session - Introduction to Image Intervention. Contextualization of the concept of intervention on images with collage techniques through examples of historical and contemporary artists. Practical exercises using the language of collage. No previous experience in collage is necessary.
2nd session - The language of painting applied to Image Intervention. Contextualization of the concept of intervention on images with painting techniques through examples of historical and contemporary artists. Practical exercises using painting techniques. No previous experience in painting is necessary.
3rd session - The language of drawing applied to Image Intervention. Contextualization of the concept of intervention on images with drawing techniques through examples of historical and contemporary artists. Practical exercises using drawing techniques. No previous experience in drawing is necessary.
This event is for the 3rd session only. Sessions can be attended individually or as a series. You do not have to have attended previous sessions to join this one!
