Led by experienced crime writer Louise Sharland, the session explores the core building blocks of compelling crime stories: what defines the genre, how to shape a gripping plot, and how to create tension, jeopardy, and momentum that keep readers turning the pages. You’ll also look at characterisation, detectives, criminals, victims, and suspects, and how setting can heighten atmosphere and stakes, from quiet streets to dangerous interiors.
