About this Event
Workshop: an introduction to Ikenobō Ikebana
Date: Sat, 8 Jun 2024
Time: 9:30 - 13:00
Location: ENSŌ LONDON
Join us at Ensō London for a hands-on experience learning the art of Ikebana with Valerie Fontanier, a certified Instructor in Ikenobo Floral Art, from the renowed oldest Ikebana School. She is part of the Ikenobō Hananowa London Study group, and has attended classes at the Ikenobō Headquarters at Rokkaku-dō Temple in Kyoto. This in-person event will immerse you in the beautiful and ancient tradition of Japanese kadō (the way of flowers), dating back more than 550 years.
After a brief introduction to Ikenobo, and a demonstration, you will be guided through creating your own stunning Ikebana. You will have a chance to work with a variety of floral materials, tools and vessels all available for you to use. You will have the opportunity to arrange a Jiyuka (free Style) using a vase and materials of your choice and take pictures of your work in a designated photo area. During the workshop tea and coffee are available. At the end, you will take the flowers you used in your creation home.
This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in exploring the world of Ikebana. Don't miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of Ikenobo School at ENSŌ LONDON!
