Date: Saturday 8th November 2025
Time: 9.30am - 3.00pm
Training Type: In Person (face to face)
Venue: Willows Counselling & Training, 11 Prospect Place, Swindon SN1 3LQ
Hosted by: Willows Counselling & Training, Swindon
CPD: 5 Hours
About the Workshop:
Since 2020, when the world moved into lockdown because of the Corona Virus, it seems that there has been a massive shift in our awareness and our approaches to issues of equality, diversity, privilege, and otherness. The deaths of George Floyd and Sarah Everard, together with the trials of the LGBTQ community and those who are neurodiverse, have meant that we have all collectively had to look at issues of privilege and otherness.
This course will explore through a therapeutic lens how we might approach and work with the varying different communities who sit and reside in towns and cities such as Swindon or Bristol. This session will be part taught but also partly experiential and participants are encouraged to bring their own sense of difference and otherness for us all to explore and discuss in a safe and contained environment.
About the Speaker:
Dr Dwight Turner is an integrative psychotherapist, supervisor and educator. He is the course leader for Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Brighton and a PhD Supervisor at their Doctoral College. Dwight writes and speaks on issues of race, difference and intersectionality in counselling and psychotherapy. His publised works include his book 'Intersections of Privilege and Otherness in Counselling and Psychotherapy' which is currently available through Routledge.
