Decorate the harvest table this season with a runner or placemats made using natural dyes extracted from goldenrod and walnuts. Nichole Gerding discusses historic uses of dyes and how to identify and responsibly harvest local dye-producing plants. Preparation and dyeing techniques using natural mordants and modifiers are presented. Try your hand at these heritage skills and share then with your friends and family this year.

About the Instructor: Nichole Gerding owns Thankful Sage Farm School, which specializes in carefully crafted small batch organic soaps and candles using historic methods and, when possible, local ingredients. Nichole developed her heritage skills at Colonial Williamsburg, and she was a finalist in Martha Stewart Living’s “American Made” contest in 2014 and 2015.
