About this Event
Working with a Contractor: two-part workshop
Don’t let your home improvement project become a horror story. This workshop will help you avoid common pitfalls so that the end result of your project is in line with your expectations for both quality and budget. In Part 1, you will learn about how to define your own expectations for the work you need and how to find, evaluate, and choose a contractor, with a particular focus on maintaining good communication. In Part 2, we will discuss written contracts, change orders, schedules, budget, and requirements such as licensing, permits, zoning, inspections, and insurance. There will be plenty of time for discussion. Participants must enroll in both Parts 1 and 2.
Instructor Paul Kiefer has more than 20 years of experience as a woodworking contractor. He works as donations coordinator for the Reuse Center at BBR.
Part 1: Saturday, November 16, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Part 2: Saturday, November 23, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
