Working Groups Meeting

Welcome to our Working Groups Meeting! Join us at the UofL Health Equity Innovation Hub for an interactive session where we collaborate, brainstorm, and work together towards our common goals. This in-person event is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, share ideas, and make progress on important projects.

Please complete this poll by May 18, 2024 to identify which working group you are interested in investing in. Please make a decision with an open mind to learn and teach and know that this space is meant for you.

Informed by the insights and suggestions identified throughout the day, the summit concluded with the formation of four working groups, each tasked with addressing specific aspects of Louisville's foodscape:

• History of Louisville’s Foodscape Through Storytelling: Led by Icy Ford, this group will explore the historical roots of Louisville's West End's foodscape over time through storytelling, highlighting the intersectional dynamics of race, class, and geography.
  
• Food Education: Co-led by Brittiney Griffin and Telly Harris, this group will develop educational initiatives to activate community members particularly youth with knowledge and skills related to nutrition, cooking, and food sovereignty.
  
• Black Political Power: Led by Celine Mutuyemariya, this group will focus on mobilizing Black political power to advocate for policy changes and resource allocation that address food insecurity and promote equity.
  
• Policy Advocacy: Led by Sumedha Roa, this group will analyze existing policies and practices affecting Louisville's food system, identify areas for reform, and develop targeted advocacy strategies. We are particularly interested on how to reduce emissions,  increase soil nutrients, decrease food waste and increase food access.
