ππΆ Work in Process Album Launch Party - Hosted by CURRENT πΆπ Join us for an unforgettable evening at the Work in Process Album Launch Party, organized by Fellowship Hi-Crest's Student Ministry, CURRENT. This event is designed to address the critical mental health crisis affecting our youth through the power of music and professional support.π Date: September 5th, 2024
π Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
π Location: Fellowship Hi-Crest, 455 SE Golf Park Blvd
Event Highlights:
π€ Live Performances by Brail Watson and the Fountain City 45s: Experience the 9-song album Work in Process, produced as a mental health resource with the assistance of the Fellowship Hi-Crest Social Emotional Learning team. The album tackles important topics such as childhood trauma, the stigma around medication for mental health, isolation, and more.
π The event will have food trucks on hand, including Soul Fire, Jazzy Dogs, and Burger Bus. π The first 200 students will receive free meals from the food trucks! π Every student who attends will also receive a copy of the album via a QR code on a free drawstring bag that they can use to grab any resources available that night. πβ¨
π¬ Interactive Stations: Engage with licensed therapists specializing in various fields. These stations will offer activities tailored to help students process their emotions in a supportive environment. Students will have the opportunity to be prayed over and speak with leaders, fostering a sense of community and support.
Our Goals:
β‘οΈ Identify and Process Painful Areas: Help individuals begin to process painful areas in their lives through the transformative power of music.
β‘οΈ Connect to Resources: Connect youth to curated mental health resources available in their own communities.
β‘οΈ Generate Conversation: Promote creative ways to utilize the arts holistically towards mental health.
Why This Matters:
According to the CDC, 44% of students are persistently sad and hopeless, with 22% considering suicide. This event is a direct response to the current mental health crisis affecting teens in Topeka. We aim to provide hope and practical support to help students navigate these challenging times.
