WORDS THAT MATTER -Open mic for the Socially Aware

Words That Matter is an open mic for artists who want to explore social issues through their work. Whether its through comedy, poetry, storytelling, music, spoken word, book readings, or any other form of creative expression, this is a space to share ideas that spark thought and conversation.

There are no restrictions on style or format. Your performance can be funny, emotional, personal, political, hopeful, or thought-provoking. It doesnt have to fit a conventional art form, it simply has to be something you believe deserves to be heard.

Whether you are speaking about identity, equality, mental health, environment, culture, community, or any issue that matters to you, the stage is yours.

Its not about having all the answers. Its about creating a space where important ideas, untold stories, and meaningful conversations can find an audience through art.

Each performer gets 6 minutes on stage.

We encourage every performer to bring at least one audience member along to support the event. The more people we gather, the more conversations we create, and the greater the impact these words can have.
