Wordle Tournament - Lock 27 Brewing

In the last few months, Wordle has taken the world by storm, and we're on a quest to find the best and brightest 5-letter word guesser that Dayton has to offer! We're putting 20 teams against each other in a bracket-style tournament to find the top Wordle champ!

Teams can include single players or pairs, but cannot exceed 2 players. During this tournament, we will be using an archive of past Wordle games to put your knowledge to the test. Two teams will face-off to try and guess the same word. The teams will be playing with their backs against each other, so they are not able to see the other team's guesses. Teams will use our provided computers that are hooked up to TV monitors so everyone in the brewpub can see their guesses. (No pressure!)

Once the correct word has been guessed, the winning team will advance to the next round of the tournament until a winner is crowned. There is a further breakdown of the rules (and how to register your team) in the section below.

1. Sign up through Eventbrite to reserve your spot. (Don't worry, it's free!) Be sure to select whether you'd like to be a part of the 6:30 tournament or the 7:30 tournament.
2. Bring your team of 1 or 2 to Lock 27 Brewing about 15 minutes before the tournament starts so we can go over rules and expectations.
3. Find your name on the bracket to see when your first match up is taking place.
4. Sit down and enjoy a pint while you wait for your turn.
5. Once it's your turn to go head-to-head (or rather back-to-back) with your opponent, you will be called up by our host to come up to the computers
6. Take your place in front of the computer, and find the correct archived game to play
7. When both teams have found the correct archived game, the host will signal for you to start
8. Once it starts, you'll begin guessing words and the first team to guess the correct word wins the round (in the event that both teams guess the correct word at the same time, we will have alternative scoring methods)
9. NOTE: to keep things moving along, the beginning rounds will only get 2-minutes to guess the correct word. The words will be simpler in the beginning rounds and will become more difficult as the game progresses. As the rounds continue, more time will be allotted to the teams to guess the higher difficulty words.

Date: Tuesday, May 10th

Time: 6:30 - 8:30pm (First tournament starts at 6:30pm, Second tournament starts at 7:30pm)

Location: Downtown Dayton Brewpub (329 E 1st St, Dayton, OH 45402)

Cost: FREE! (You just need to sign up to reserve your teams' spot)

Details: Tickets are purchased per team, so only one ticket needs to be purchased to register a team of 2 participants

Prizes: Our winning teams will be awarded the following prizes

• First Place: $25 Lock 27 Brewing Gift Card
• Second Place: Two (2) 6-packs

Ticket includes: (1) team of 1-2 participants in one (1) of our Wordle tournaments at 6:30pm or 7:30pm
