Word Wise is a spoken word and poetry night uniting the best talent from around the UK and beyond, with Derby's finest performers. Word Wise won the 2019 Saboteur award for Best Regular Spoken Word Event in the UK.

Jamie Thrasivoulou is an award-winning writer, poet, and educator. He’s also the lyricist in the band Kez. In 2019 he won the Saboteur award for Best Spoken word performer in the UK, in 2018 he won the Culture Matters Bread & Roses award for Best spoken word and musical collaboration. His work has been published and broadcast widely, including appearances on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, and BBC Radio 4. Grounded in working class
experience, his poems are packed full of witty and often satirical social observation; he has two fingers aimed firmly towards authority and the class system. Jamie’s third full-length
collection ‘Feral’ is published in February 2024 through Verve Poetry Press.
Punk poet Henry Raby's work has been described as playful, highly-charged, passionate and anarchic! Henry writes about anger and hope - the twin emotions to keep you fuelled for the fight. You'll find him gobbing verse at DIY venues, protests and festivals (Manchester Punk Festival, Deer Shed, Latitude, Greenbelt and Boomtown Fair). Henry has been published by Burning Eye Books and co-runs York spoken word organisation Say Owt. He co-hosts the Vandal Factory podcast, looking at the magic moments where art and activism meet.
