"Locking the Severn in Worcester, international fame and the making of Diglis Island." 70-minute walking tour. Not the catchiest of titles, but we have developed a new walking tour which is a prequel to our Diglis Island and Fish Pass tours. 🙌
Join us on our new 70-minute tour and find out about how trade along the River Severn developed over the last 1,000 years.
🚶♂️🚶♀️👩🦼 As you walk along the banks of the Severn in Worcester, you will hear about how it became famous worldwide through its trade in gloves, porcelain and a sauce that was accidentally created. By the end of the tour you will understand why the Severn was 'locked' in the 1840's by weirs, which led to the 'Unlocking the Severn' project.
🏏Starts adjacent to the Premier Inn (WR2 4RL).
📌 Finishes just south of the entrance to the Worcester and Birmingham canal at Diglis.
🗺 The tour is approximately 0.8 miles in length.
🎟 £5 for adults. Under 18's free. The tour is suitable for older children and adults.
