Worcester Edition: Worcester Cathedral and River Trail

Step into Worcester’s story on this relaxed riverside heritage trail — where cathedral towers, quiet waterways, and centuries of craftsmanship meet.

We begin beneath the magnificent Worcester Cathedral, a masterpiece of medieval architecture and home to royal tombs and serene cloisters. After exploring the cathedral’s history and peaceful gardens, we leave through the Water Gate, once the monks’ doorway to the River Severn.

From here, we follow the gentle riverside path toward Diglis Basin, where canal boats and wildlife share the calm waters. A short rest stop awaits at the Worcester Porcelain Museum Café, surrounded by echoes of the city’s creative heritage.

Our return route brings us to The Commandery, one of Worcester’s most historic buildings and the site of the final battle of the English Civil War. Here, history comes to life through its gardens, architecture, and stories of resilience — a fitting finale to a walk that celebrates the city’s rich, reflective spirit.
