Carol Bergman will read from her recently published memoir and workbook, Becoming a Writer. The prize-winning journalist and educator will talk about what it’s like to develop her social justice “beat” as a reporter and Op-ed writer working overseas, and how she continued writing “as witness” when she returned home, into the present day as a resident of Ulster County. A Q & A will follow.
Bergman compiled and edited Another Day in Paradise: International Humanitarian Workers Tell Their Stories with a forward by John Le Carre. Her essays, reviews and interviews in numerous publications include The New York Times and The Times of London, Salon.com, and HV1. “Objects of Desire” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for nonfiction. Bergman is also one of the founding faculty at Gotham Writers Workshop.
The Woodstock Library Forum is the longest running free cultural affairs program in the Hudson Valley and is made possible by The Friends of the Woodstock Library.
