If you are a child of the Lord, then it's likely that sometime during your life you will be called to suffer for His sake.
Are you ready? Are you willing? In Philippians 1:29 the apostle Paul says that suffering for Christ is a gift. It is under these conditions of suffering that the apostle Peter writes his letter to encourage believers during their time of distress. Peter's message of hope and courage in the midst of suffering is as applicable to his original readers as it is to us today.
