Join WVSU Extension at The Mary Price Ratrie Arboretum located at Spring Hill Cemetery for the second part of the Invasive Species of Appalachian Forests workshop. After a brief indoor presentation, we will head outside. Please dress for the weather and be prepared for light hiking.
During the outdoor portion of this workshop, Chris Higgins, resident arborist, will share successes and methods of removal of, but not limited to, non-native Tree-of-Heaven, Oriental Bittersweet and Amur Honeysuckle. He will demonstrate hack and squirt and stump treatment methods, equipment you may need and common pitfalls. This time of year is ideal for using these methods, as plants are beginning to move sugars to their roots in preparation for dormancy.
