A guided walk through New Cross Gate Cutting to learn about Woodland Ecology, Folklore and the Great North Wood.
About this Event

Join London Wildlife Trust's Great North Wood team and local wildlife enthusiast James Newton at New Cross Gate Cutting on Wednesday 5th October 2022 for a guided walk to learn about Woodland Ecology, Folklore and the wonderful Great North Wood.

Our woodlands are integral to the mythology and folklore of the British Isles. A mythology and folklore that shares similarities with cultures around the world. Through this walk/talk James will explore aspects of local ecology, history and folklore and how this has inspired some of our favourite writers. For more information about the reserve, click here.

The event will start at 5:30pm at New Cross Gate Cutting, the entrance to which is via the London Wildlife Trust branded green gates, where Endwell Road meets Vesta Road (what3words///marked.steer.flows). Please arrive promptly.

The event is open to all and free to attend.

Please note the following:

  • No dogs, except guide dogs are allowed in the Nature Reserve.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather as the event will be outdoors.
  • Please wear appropriate footwear for walking on potentially muddy paths in the woods.
