Woodland Craft & Sharp Tools Day

This immersive, hands-on training day is ideal for Forest School practitioners seeking CPD opportunities, individuals interested in traditional greenwood working, or anyone looking to build confidence and competence in the use of sharp tools.

Set in a beautiful woodland environment, the course offers practical experience with a wide range of heritage tools, including:

  • Axes
  • Knives
  • Bow Saw
  • Pruning Saw
  • Drawknives
  • Froes
  • Billhooks
  • Drills

Guided by experienced instructors, you’ll learn how to use each tool safely and effectively, with a strong focus on choosing the right tool for the job, selecting suitable materials, and understanding how different woods behave. The course also covers essential maintenance, sharpening techniques, and your legal responsibilities when using edged tools.

Throughout the day, you’ll craft a variety of useful greenwood items — including a woodland mallet and a buck saw — to take home with you.

Whether you're looking to enhance your teaching practice, explore traditional woodland crafts, or simply enjoy a purposeful day in nature, this must-do course offers a valuable, hands-on experience that is both rewarding and enriching.

A hands-on day learning traditional greenwood craft, tool safety, sharpening, material selection, and making your own items—ideal for Forest School leaders and anyone wanting confidence with sharp tools.
