Join us in the woods and become a qualified environmental education instructor! Our course offers a more accessible and cost-effective alternative to traditional Forest School training, giving you all the skills and knowledge you need to lead groups in the great outdoors.
Woodland Activity Leader Training (WALT) is accredited through the NCFE with a Level 2 qualification. You will learn the essential outdoor skills needed to lead your own exciting outdoor education sessions for all ages and abilities. WALT empowers you to deliver inspiring environmental education, tailored to the needs of your students, patients or clients.
Our WALT training programme uses a combination of online learning, for the theoretical modules (Part 1) which you can study in your own time, and in-person outdoor workshops for the practical modules (Part 2). The total cost per person is £560.00. This is broken down into 2 payments, covering Part 1: Theory and Part 2: Practical. The theory module (delivered online) costs £200.00 per person. The 3 day practical skills course costs £360.00 per person.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
James is our Head Outdoor Educator, having delivered hundreds of sessions to groups of all ages during his 20 years of experience. He is a qualified Forest School Leader, Social Forester and experienced Woodland Manager. James is the Chair of Forest School Wales, a charity established in 2003 to promote good practise and support the network of Forest School Practitioners across Wales. He is an active member of the Institute for Outdoor Learnings Bushcraft Professional Practise Group. He is also a member of the Learning Through Landscapes Accredited Network of trainers.
ABOUT THE VENUE
Park In The Past comprises 120 acres of outstanding natural beauty offering woodlands and wetlands, a magnificent 35-acre lake and the gorgeous River Alyn winding through it, as well as wonderful walks and spacious fields. Visitors can journey back 2,000 years and discover the recreated Roman Fort Build, an ongoing project in experimental archaeology and the only one of its kind in the UK.
