Wood Shop 102 - Introduction to Band Saws & Routers

Please take Woodshop 101 as a pre-requisite to this class.

We will cover the fundamentals to safely use the band saws and routers in the Charlotte Makerspace Woodshop.

Machines include the following:

• Band Saw

• Handheld Router
• Router Table

Techniques covered include the following:

• Resawing

• Cutting curves
• Chamfers
• Fluting/Grooves

Class is open to ages 16 and up, though minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The adult must purchase an additional ticket to attend the class.

Guests are asked to be on time for events. If the safety briefing is missed, the guest will not be able to join the class and no refunds will be given.

Any jewelry on the hands and wrist must be removed and that no loose clothing is worn. Closed-toed shoes are required. Safety goggles will be provided. If you wear prescription glasses, you may want to bring your own eye protection. Hearing protection is optional, bring your own if desired.

The class will gather in the reception area before continuing to the woodshop.

Refund Policy:

• Transfers to another class follow the same refund rules as your original date.
• 14+ days before the first class: Full refund.
• 7–13 days before the first class: Refund minus a 50% administrative fee.
• Fewer than 7 days before the first class: No refunds.
• Seat transfer: If you find a replacement who pays for and takes your seat before the first class begins, you are eligible for a full refund.

Class may be canceled due to low enrollment in which case a full refund will be issued.
Cancellation Policy:

MakerSpace reserves the right to cancel any class with insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled by MakerSpace, fees are 100% refundable.
