An introduction to greenwood carving, axe work and carving techniques leading to making a spoon or spatula.
About this Event

This is a weekend workshop which will provide beginner skills in traditional green woodworking.

Working with recently felled hardwood that is still wet with sap and much softer and easier to work than seasoned hardwood. You will see how to cleave a log, work up billets with a carving axe, shape spatulas and/or spoons from a worked billet.

The workshop will run over two days (Saturday 11 July 2pm-5pm & Sunday 12 July 10am-4pm) with breaks and time to take lunch. Coffee and tea will be available. And for lunch we recommend Pumphouse Cafe and Deli or a picnic in the park.

This workshop will be a small group.

Specialized woodcarving knives will be available to buy on the day for £20 for those that wish to continue carving on their own after the course. Payable by cash on the day.
