Join Certified California Naturalist John Lynch on his wondrous wildflower walks. Departing from the Visitor Center, this route takes us on the Creekside and Hillside trails returning via Meadow.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for youth (12-17 year olds), students, Sugarloaf members, Sugarloaf or RFO volunteers, and free for children under 12. Wear layers, appropriate footwear for muddy and/or slippery trails, bring at least a quart of water and if desired, a snack. Heavy rain cancels and will be announced early on the day of the hike. Parking fees apply.
Ease of access: The main parking lot has one van-designated accessible parking space and an accessible vault toilet. There is no running water or cell phone service in this area. Across from the main lot is one of the trailheads for Creekside Nature Trail. Nearly 0.5 mile of the trail is ADA-compliant, although our route for this hike veers off from the accessible part of the trail uphill across a narrow foot trail with a cable bridge that connects with Hillside Trail. Hillside is a gravel and dirt road with two 100-ft hills and a small year-round stream crossing (there is a 2x4 board for crossing). Meadow is a mostly flat composite trail manageable by strollers and wheelchairs from the trailhead to about a mile in, although officially not an ADA-compliant trail.
