About this Event

Join Casey Trees, ZCAF, DC’s Urban Forestry Division, Langdon Park Stewards, DC Public Library, and DPR for a family-friendly event exploring the "Wonders of DC Trees" exhibit.

We will be present to share the exhibit and answer questions. Meet artists through ZCAF who turn trees into art or use them for inspiration. Youth can create a “tree” bookmark, and we will share some of our favorite nature/tree selections.

Then, take an easy walk through Langdon Park to learn more about what our city's trees do for us. The Langdon Park Forest Stewards Stewards will end the event with an introduction to their work in the forest patch and share simple ways you can get involved.

Getting There

We will gather at Woodridge Library, located at 1801 Hamlin Street NE, Washington, DC.

Parking: Street parking is available.

Public transportation: The closest bus stops are served by the C71, C63, P40, P10,P1X, and D32 bus lines. The closest Metro station is Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood and is about a mile walk away.

What to Expect

We will be inside for the first part, including the craft activity, and then do an easy walk to Langdon Park and through the forest patch. Please note that there will be uneven surfaces and perhaps muddy areas at the park. There are also a few hilly areas in the park.

1:30 - 2:30 pm - Meet at the library, tour the exhibit, meet the artists, and craft.

2:30-3:30 pm – Walk to the park and meet some of the first trees planted by Casey Trees. Then, gather with the Langdon Forest Patch Stewards to learn about the forest they are working to preserve.

Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. Please wear closed-toed shoes that are comfortable for walking.

Register/Waiver: Please register and sign our waiver in advance as space is limited. If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know.
