Wonderful Words Workshop with Penny Boxall

What do the words ADDLEPATED, JIGGUMBOB and SLUBBERDEGULLION have in common? Not only are they fun to say, they’re also all defined in one of the world’s most famous books: Dr Johnson’s Dictionary, published in the 1700s.
To celebrate the publication of Penny Boxall’s new novel, Letty and the Mystery of the Word Thieves — in which 12-year-old Lettice Breech must solve the riddle of a mysterious dictionary to save her home — Penny will be leading a dictionary-inspired creative workshop. We’ll make up words, come up with definitions of our own, and contemplate some of the many meanings of the letter X — which might not always mark the spot.
