In the United States, an estimated 48 million people—roughly 1 in 6 Americans—get sick from foodborne illnesses (food poisoning) each year. Take time to learn what it takes to keep your family and friends safe when hosting a gathering. We will cover how to control time/temperature for safety, prevent cross-contamination, and demonstrate how to use food thermometers to make sure your food is not in the Danger Zone.Join us at the Garland County Library for the free Wonderful Wednesdays! – Keep Food Safe- Fundraisers, Potlucks, & Picnics from 1:00—2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. We will also look at how to keep food safe when hosting fundraisers and what the Health Department requirements are. Plus, see in person practical ways to prevent foodborne illness during potlucks and picnics.
This program is presented by the Garland County Extension Service and the Garland County Extension Homemakers Council. Along with the subject topics, participants can learn more about the opportunities for community service, leadership development, life-long learning and all of the fun that being a member of EHC presents!
