Wonder Women

This gathering celebrates the remarkable achievements and stories behind Wonder Women. Experience a memorable evening in a distinguished venue located in the heart of Chichester.
With the support of the Continuo Foundation, we explore the remarkable women of Baroque music. Featuring instrumental works by Anna Bon, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Madame Laschansky, Isabella Leonarda, and others, we will combine live performance with storytelling, exploring how these women navigated a male-dominated musical world.
Obsidian Baroque is a new ensemble formed in summer 2024. We were chosen to participate in the 2025 and 2026 BBC/National Centre of Early Music's New Generation Baroque Artists development days at the Royal College of Music. We focus on Baroque era music (17th and 18th century) and Baroque dance music. Our musicians are graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Individually we play with prestigious groups including the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Florilegium, The Academy of Ancient Music and Gabrieli. In 2026 we were delighted and grateful to receive support from the Continuo Foundation.
