We are very excited to highlight womyn-led artisans, small businesses, non-profits, and musicians at this event. Musical guests, Abby Bryant and her band will play two soul-roots sets. Sunnie Rae will open up the event with her bluegrass tunes. There will be 40+ local artisan vendors with a variety of art, goods, and wares for you to shop and support. Food trucks, baked goods, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. The Hellbender bars will also be open for alcoholic beverages during the event. We will have a Womyn's relaxation area (hosted by Arete) with massage, tarot, henna, and more to fully pamper and enjoy. A kid's area will include crafts, face painting, and fairy hair. A collection of local womyn-focused non-profits and small businesses will also be present to showcase their offerings.
The idea for the Womyn Rising Celebration came post-Helene and current political climate, feeling the need to support womyn-led artisan/makers, businesses, musicians, and non-profits that may be struggling. We wanted to highlight the talent and fierce determination of making a difference in our sweet mountain communities. The "womyn" spelling comes from a 1970s movement and our goal is to be inclusive of all female-identifying persons in WNC. While the event participants are solely female-identifying, the celebration is open and welcoming to everyone (male, female, LGBTQA+, children, whomever - just bring the love) and we look forward to the community showing up to support all of these amazing womyn-led offerings.
