Join us for a powerful convening of community leaders and public officials for solutions to the rising rates of incarceration among women.
About this Event

The MacArthur Foundation Safety & Justice Challenge, Operation Restoration, and the City of New Orleans are hosting a Women’s Justice Pathways (WJP) Mapping Session©. Created and facilitated by the national Women’s Justice Institute, this event is specifically designed to facilitate collaborative solutions to women’s incarceration and will center lived expertise and experience and the contributions of our community partners across sectors.

Supported by Voice of the Experienced (VOTE) and Women With A Vision, this dynamic, groundbreaking event will provide an essential space to identify opportunities to improve well-being and outcomes among women, children, families, and communities before, during, and after incarceration.

It will bring together leaders, public safety officials, advocates, and community partners to confront the rising rates of incarceration among women and survivors in jails and prisons—and to disrupt the harmful toll on our communities.

Participants will actively engage in mapping women’s real-world experiences across the justice continuum - before, during, and after incarceration.

The session will also feature:

  • International, national, and local data on trends impacting women in the justice system.
  • A powerful panel of women leaders with lived experience sharing insight and solutions.
  • Special conversations with sheriff candidates about their vision for women’s justice.
  • Opportunities to collaborate across sectors to design strategies rooted in lived expertise and community wisdom.

Join us for this unique event as we turn shared knowledge into coordinated action for lasting change.

This event elevates and honors the wisdom of women with lived experience. If you would like to share that experience as part of your participation, you are welcome to indicate that here, but it is not required.

The topics explored will include real-life experiences and systemic challenges that may evoke strong emotional responses. We are committed to holding this space with care. Members of our team will be available throughout the day to offer grounding support and connection for anyone who would like it. Participants are encouraged to engage at their own pace and take breaks as needed.
