Q: Would you like to get better at public speaking and get more comfortable on stage? Q: Do you want to add in humor to your presentations at work?
Q: Do your friends constantly tell you you’re funny?
Q: Are you secretly intrigued about stand-up, but need some structure and guidance to help gain some courage to get on stage?
A: If you answered YES! to any of the questions above, this class is for you.
As part of the inaugural Women’s Stand-Up Comedy Class in Charlotte, NC, you will:
- Learn the fundamentals of stand-up comedy, joke writing and structure
- Gain valuable experience on-stage to get more comfortable speaking in front of a crowd
- Hear helpful insights and tips from guest comedians
- Prepare a 5+ minute stand-up comedy set to perform at the student graduation showcase on Tuesday, March 7
- Connect with and support your classmates, starting in your comedy journey together, and hopefully even make some awesome friends along the way
Schedule: Classes will be held weekly for six (6) weeks on Tuesday nights starting on January 24th from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
There will be a student graduation showcase on Tuesday, March 7 at 8 p.m.
Students are expected to:
- Be women-identifying individuals ages 21+
- Arrive to class on time and stay for the duration of the class
- Be an active participant in class
- Be open to receiving and providing positive, constructive feedback with fellow classmates
- Craft a 5-minute stand-up comedy set
- Perform at the student graduation showcase on Tuesday, March 7
Required Materials: paper, pen or pencil
Tuition is $350. Fees are non-refundable and full payment is due before the first class.

About the Instructor:
Lauren Ansley is a Charlotte-based stand-up comedian, professional emcee, and founder of Beerly Funny, a Charlotte-based stand-up comedy show production company.
She has been a featured performer in several comedy festivals throughout the Carolinas, named one of the comedians to know by Charlotte Five and was featured in the Charlotte Observer.
Her passion to make others laugh and slight southern accent are only overshadowed by her infectious smile and abnormal height of 5’13.
Lauren originally started her comedy journey by taking a stand-up comedy class herself. It gave her the structure and courage she needed to share her voice and get up on stage. She has performed in several comedy festivals, and 2019 she produced her own comedy showcase under the brand “Beerly Funny.”
Since then, Lauren has produced and hosted over 100 Beerly Funny comedy shows in the Greater Charlotte region.
She has a passion for entertaining and creating more moments of joy and laughter.
And above all, Lauren is excited to have you join her in the classroom to share her stand-up comedy knowledge and experience with you!
