WEEK 2Women's Self-Defense Course
Fridays 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Dates: April 19th, 26th, May 3rd, 10th
Who: Women and girls of all fitness levels
Cost: $20 per class, drop-ins welcome or $70 for all 4 classes
This 4-week course is designed to prepare you for the unthinkable. During these four sessions you will learn techniques and tactics that will give you the confidence, awareness and skills to face the dangers in today's world. This course is designed for women of all skill and fitness levels with a balance of discussion and physical exercise throughout.
Week 1 - Intro - Fight or Flight
We will discuss the who/what/when/where and why of self defense. Students will learn some of the most effective striking and blocking techniques that do not require years of martial arts training to be good at. Focusing on escape, we will learn tactics for different situations in case you are attacked.
Week 2 - Getting Away
We will learn to get away from someone who has a hold of you. Whether grabbed by the arm, from behind or even choked, you can get away. We will focus on where to strike. Learning vulnerable areas from head to toe, we will practice different techniques that will tip the odds in your favor.
Week 3 - What About Weapons?
We will look at weapons from three perspectives: When an attacker has a weapon; carrying weapons; improvising weapons out of what is around you.
Week 4 - Be Empowered
We will end where most fights end - on the ground. Learn to protect yourself when falling and defending from the ground. We will finish with a review of the course and discuss the question "what next?".
